Bean-To-Cup Machine

At the touch of a button, the machine performs the entire brewing process: it grinds fresh beans, doses the exact amount of grounds, tamps them, and forces hot water through the coffee to extract a fresh, cafe-quality cup. It removes the need for manual grinding or external equipment, offering the convenience of a pod machine while maintaining the superior flavor and aroma that only freshly ground beans can provide.

The Ideal Bean:

You need the following:

  • Bean-To-Cup machine

  • Whole beans

  • Filtered water

  • Small brush

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. 1. Freshness is Key: The One-Day RuleThe hopper (where the beans sit) is not airtight. To keep your Julie Bean coffee tasting its best, don’t fill the hopper to the brim. * Pro-Tip: Only put in roughly one day's worth of beans at a time. This keeps the rest of your stash fresh in its bag and prevents the oils from the beans from going rancid inside the machine.

  2. Dialling in the GrindMost bean-to-cup machines have a dial inside the hopper to adjust the grind. This is the most important step for flavour:

    1. The Goal: You want a medium-fine grind (like fine table salt).

      1. Too Coarse (Big):

      2. If the grind is too large, the water will run through too fast, resulting in a weak, watery, and sour cup.

      3. Too Fine (Small): If the grind is too small, the water will run through too slow (or just drip), resulting in a bitter, over-cooked, and "burnt" tasting coffee.

      4. Adjustment: Only change the grind setting while the grinder is actually running to avoid damaging the mechanism.

  3. Water Maintenance:  Always use the internal water filter or pre-filtered water. Since these machines have many small internal pipes, clean water helps your machine last longer, and your coffee tastes like the bean, not the pipes.

  4. The BrewSelect your desired drink (Espresso, Long Coffee, etc.). Watch the flow: it should look like a steady, thin stream. If it’s gushing out or barely dripping, go back to Step 2 and adjust your grind.

  5. Daily CleaningEmpty the "puck" bin and the drip tray every day. Coffee grounds are moist and can develop mould quickly inside the warm environment of a machine. A 30-second rinse every evening keeps your morning cup tasting fresh.
